On Monday, we’ll discuss the concepts of content marketing via skype with Ann Handley. Ann is the Chief Content Officer for MarketingProfs. She’s a 13-year veteran of creating and managing digital content to build relationships for organizations and individuals, and the co-author of Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business (Wiley, Late 2010). Ann has a passion for building community, particularly in using new media tools to broaden and build value. Previously, Ann was the co-founder of ClickZ.com, one of the first sources of interactive marketing news and commentary. Prior to that, she spent 12 years as a business editor and writer for both local and national trade and consumer publications, including the Boston Globe. She holds a BA from Simmons College, Boston
Mobile Marketing

On Monday we’ll talk about mobile marketing. Here is a link to the (updated) slides. On Wednesday, you’ll have a chance to meet with your project team during class. Next Monday, Ann Handley will join us via skype to talk about content marketing. Finally, our final quiz will take place on the last day of class next Wednesday.

Long believed to be a dying breed, online advertising is alive and well. On Wednesday, we’ll talk about online advertising, including banner ads, video ads, etc. We will also look at how online ads are delivered and the newest attempts at making these ads relevant. Here is a link to the slides.

This is the general topic of landing pages, or what happens after you get people to click on a paid search ad, an advertisement, or even a link in an email you sent to your customers. We will be discussing Personas on Wednesday. These are concepts used by web designers to better understand how to design a web site. This week we will be discussing web analytics. As usual, this is a vast subject so I’ll be talking about the main issues confronting marketers and the main insights you can get with web analytics.
